Since 2005, Mark Sparks has annually volunteered as a High School Mock Trial Coach at Monsignor Kelly High School in Beaumont. His active participation in professional organizations includes serving on the Jefferson County Young Lawyers Association Board of Directors for three terms (2004, 2006, and 2012) and as a member of the Jefferson County Bar Association's Bar Journal Editorial Committee (2006-present), a board member of the Jefferson County Pro Bono Association (2010 to present), the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, and the Eastern District of Texas Local Rules Advisory Committee. Sparks' legal affiliations include the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association and the Inter-American Bar Association.
Sparks completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree cum laude at The University of Texas School of Law, where he was editor of the American Journal of Criminal law, and his undergraduate degree summa cum laude at Baylor University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a 4.0.
