Job Duties

  • Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney.
  • Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; drafting complaints; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel; generating status reports.
  • Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress.
  • Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney, clients, and providers.
  • Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses; organizing materials for team case review.
  • Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; taking courtroom notes.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Job Description

To be able to perform clerical tasks such as making copies of documents, distributing mail among other legal staff, moving files, mailing letters and answering the phone. At some firms, they also perform word processing tasks and data entry.

The legal runner needs a vehicle and a driver’s license, since these workers must travel to perform various errands. They must be well organized to keep track of legal documents and to operate efficiently. While legal runners often run errands, the amount of travel they do depends on the office they work for, since some legal offices are closer to other law firms and courthouses than others.

Job Duties

  • Filing Claims online for new clients
  • Curing deficiencies/problems online for existing claims
  • Researching information
  • Communication with defendants and Co-counsel
  • Answer phone calls from clients
  • Meet with clients
  • Run status’ for Attorney’s
  • Attend departmental meetings
  • Assist in mailouts

Skills & Qualifications

Needs to be organized, motivated, team player, and eager to learn. Microsoft Office experience with Intermediate Access Skills are preferred, but not required.

Job Duties

  • Experience in numerous computer programs such as: Microsoft Office, State and Federal Electronic Filings Systems, and Westlaw.
  • Experience drafting correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests, and extensive discovery responses and objections.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple parties and correspond with clients.
  • Proficient writing skills.
  • Basic phone etiquette.
  • Able to travel for trial, if necessary.
  • Knowledgeable about pre-trial documents and procedure.
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently without instruction.

Minimum 3 years of Personal Injury Legal Experience
