Mike Hamilton of Provost Umphrey’s Nashville office has been named to the Mid-South Super Lawyer list for the fifth year in a row. Hamilton’s primary practice areas include Employee Benefits, Personal Injury - Products: Plaintiff, and Civil Litigation: Plaintiff. Hamilton also represents whistleblowers in actions involving fraud on the government. Hamilton is licensed to practice law in Arkansas and Tennessee. He joins 12 Provost Umphrey attorneys included on the 2017 Texas Super Lawyer list.
Currently, Hamilton is representing a class of VA healthcare workers in an unpaid overtime lawsuit. In one of his most notable cases, a judge denied a request for a new trial for a class action dispute in which Mike Hamilton achieved a $5.8 million verdict on behalf of Tyson Foods employees. In 2011, a federal jury ruled in favor of the employees with a $5.8 million verdict, which the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld in 2014. Tyson later challenged the verdict to the U.S. Supreme Court, and in March 2016, the court upheld the lower court ruling.
“Mike Hamilton is an excellent lawyer and advocate for his clients. The firm is proud of this distinction and his continued commitment to the civil justice system,” says managing partner Joe J. Fisher II.
Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the area are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.
