Equity partner, David P. Wilson has been with Provost Umphrey Law Firm as an attorney since 1991. He is certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is licensed to practice law in Texas, Louisiana and Ohio. Wilson commonly represents injured offshore oil workers, seaman, and railroad workers. Wilson has a unique background in that he served eight years in the United States Air Force and worked in television news before going to law school.

  • What made you want to become a lawyer? I spent eight years in the military and then many years in television news before becoming a lawyer. But, I always had an interest in the law and took the opportunity to go back to school to get a law degree.
  • Why did you decide to focus on personal injury law? I am blessed to have the opportunity to represent people who have been injured and families who have lost loved ones because of someone's negligence. I focus on personal injury law because these are the people I feel need the most help from our civil justice system.
  • What do you do for fun? Fun for me is a rod and reel and a few hungry speckled trout.
  • Where did you grow up? I grew up in Bay City
  • What is your favorite place in Southeast Texas? Galveston
  • What is your proudest moment? My proudest moments were the births of my sons and watching them grow into young men and become successful in their own careers.
  • What is your favorite movie? My Cousin Vinny
  • If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Goode Company's pecan pie.
  • What goals do you have for yourself for the next five years? My goals for the next five years are to get healthy and inflict pain on insurance companies.
  • What is one destination in the world that is on your travel bucket list? Space
  • What do you think sets Provost Umphrey apart from other law firms? Provost Umphrey sets itself apart from other law firms because of the expertise, care, and hard work of its lawyers and staff. Sometimes other lawyers are more interested in themselves and personal gain. We never forget we represent real people with real injuries and losses.
