Layne Walker is a former judge of the 252nd District Court in Beaumont, Texas. Walker served as a judge for eleven years, from 2003 to 2014, before stepping down to begin consulting for a Top 10 Fortune 500 company. He joined Provost Umphrey Law Firm in 2015.
As a district judge, Walker ensured the fair execution of hearings and trials. He also supervised the Jefferson County Adult Probation Department, which consists of more than 200 employees.
Former Judge Walker is a native of Beaumont, Texas and earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He earned his law degree from Texas Southern Law Center in Houston, Texas.
Prior to being a judge, Walker was in private practice, handling various civil and criminal matters. Walker also played a part in the first mesothelioma case tried to a jury in Jefferson County.
Outside the practice of law, Walker is the President of Hunting for Him, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that mentors troubled youth while helping them establish a relationship with Jesus Christ.
