Larry C. Hunter

Larry C. Hunter has 34 years of trial experience in several fields of practice. Larry graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with a B.A. in Government in 1973, and received his law degree from the University of Houston School of Law in 1976. Larry is licensed to practice before the state courts of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. In 2002, Larry appeared before the United States Supreme Court in a firearm rights case.

After graduation from law school, Larry practiced in Orange County, Texas, with B. E. Wharton from 1977-80. In 1980, Larry became a partner in Hahn & Hunter, which ended in 1984 when Buddie J. Hahn was appointed judge of the 260th District Court of Orange County, Texas. Larry continued to practice law primarily as a solo practitioner until 2003, when he formed Hunter Burch, L.L.P., a general practice law firm with emphasis in personal injury, family law, probate and business litigation.

Larry joined the Provost « Umphrey Law Firm, L.L.P. in January, 2011, and his former law partner, Courtney Burch-Arkeen, was appointed judge of the 128th District Court of Orange County, Texas, in May of 2011. Larry is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Jefferson County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

Larry has represented the Orange County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1 since 1982 as general counsel. Larry has been a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation since 1996, and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross Orange County Chapter since 2002, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Sabine Chapter of Ducks Unlimited since 1986.
